Complete the Surrogate Mother Application
It is important that you answer the questions completely and honestly so that we are able to introduce you to the perfect intended parents. This will be reviewed by 3 Sisters Surrogacy staff. If your application is selected, a Surrogacy Liaison will contact you to proceed with the process.
Transfer Medical Records
Once we have approved your initial application, we will request your prior Ob/Gyn records. Please send them sent to:
Family Solutions International
5757 Woodway Drive, Suite 317
Houston, TX 77057
You can also fax them to 877-518-4803.
Social Work Visit
After review of your medical records, we will schedule a time to meet you and your husband (or partner) in person or via video chat.
Match With Intended Parents
After acceptance into 3 Sisters Surrogacy Program we will begin the process of matching you with the Intended Parents (IPs).
All parties will be able to review the selection, and when the IPs are ready to move forward, we will arrange a meeting with everyone involved to discuss the arrangements and expectations. It is very important to feel a connection with your Intended Parents.
Psychological Assessment
A licensed Mental Health Professional will interview you and your husband, as well as administer a personality test. A Mental Health Clearance will be sent to the treating physician.
Medical Exam
A medical exam will be scheduled with the couple’s infertility doctor. The exam will usually include:
- Physical/Pap Smear
- Vaginal Ultrasound to visualize the uterus
- Hysteroscopy to visualize the inside of the uterus
- Information regarding the IVF process
- Bloodwork for you and your husband/partner for Infectious Disease testing
A letter certifying your medical status will be sent to the Intended Parents’ IVF doctor.
IMPORTANT: We cannot proceed past this point until all Clearances and Medical Exams are completed.
Legal Contracts
We will arrange for you to retain the services of an attorney who specializes in surrogacy law. He or she will produce the legal contract for surrogacy, which both you (the surrogate) and your husband (or partner) must sign. A Legal Clearance will be sent to the treating physician.
Start of Cycle!
The IVF clinic will go over in detail with you the medications that will need to be taken. Once you start the medications, the clinic will most likely want to perform ultrasounds and bloodwork to monitor the progression of your uterus. It is important to note that with this type of surrogacy, Gestational Surrogacy, the eggs to be used will not be your own, but come from either the intended mother or an egg donor. Once the eggs are retrieved and fertilized with the husband’s sperm, the embryos will be grown for 3-5 days. You will be notified by the physician’s office as to the day and time of the embryo transfer.
The process of replacing is quite simple – you will be placed in stirrups, and a small catheter will be inserted into your uterus through the vagina. The procedure is generally pain-free.
The treating physician will give very specific instructions for after the embryo transfer. The pregnancy test is usually 10-14 days later.
Being pregnant!
You will visit the treating Ob/gyn routinely, and maybe even more than with a natural pregnancy. We will be in constant contact with you, assuring that you are doing well. We also encourage frequent communication between you and the soon-to-be new parents so that they can share in the miracle of their child. Towards the end of your pregnancy, we will refer you to a doula that will help develop the birth plan.
Delivery!!
An amazing time for all involved! The doula will meet with everyone to ensure the birth plan is made.
Once you have returned home, our staff and counselors will continue to touch base with you to make sure your transition is an easy one.
It’s an amazing journey and we will be here to help you every step of the way. If you are ready to take the next step, you can fill out our Surrogate Mother Application.
